More black ships off Ishidol than I can count.
How do we tell the black ships of the Drow from
the black ships of the Black Ship Pirates?
Could somebody change to the Green Pirates
or maybe Mauve Pirates with yellow trim?

herd some.

     Waning days, month 7, in the year 6

   We were on our usual trade route, carrying spices 
   from faraway lands back to Ishdol.
   Only a few weeks out, we encountered a heavy fog, no it wasn't fog, 
   that smell, burning wood maybe, a volcano that erupted?
   We noticed ships thru the smoke, a lot of them. 
   I urged my crew to keep quiet.
   I couldn't distinguish their banners, 
   but most were dark and some had some sort of buckler
   or round shield in it.
   We could see the shores of Koddekra, entire villages in flames
   ... burning ... definitely something bad had happened.
   I replotted our course to stay away from this troubled place.
   God have mercy on those poor souls.
